Coming Soon!

I was going to work in the yard today, but felt completely blah.

I'll do some work tomorrow. I'll take some more flower pics too as my iris, columbine and lily of the valley are blooming.

Easter Weekend...brrrr!

Winter returned to Nashville over Holy Week and Easter Weekend. The temps got below freezing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. It flurried snow on Friday afternoon. And it was colder on Easter morning than it was on Christmas morning.

I took some photos before the cold really hit hard. Also took some inside church pics and my colored eggs. You can click on the pic to make it bigger.

The phlox in my front flower bed has finally gotten some nice blooms. Most of the past years it was very gangly and sparse.

Here's the climbing rose at Assumption Church between the church and the rectory. Beautiful roses so early!

And a single bloom..almost perfect. I cut three and brought them in the house to put on the mantle. They are still full and scentful.

The azaleas in the Church courtyard. There are these, some white and some light blue. I tried to cover them Friday night with bedsheets, but the wind was strong and not too much stayed covered.

Assumption Church main and high altars decorated for Easter.

The Peace Lily and Easter lilies in front of the main altar.

The main crucifix, fitted out in white linen symbolizing the cloths left in the tomb.

A beautiful lily. Sometimes you just have to be amazed at how perfect these flowers are.

Gerber daisies I bought for the statue of St. Ann, my mother patron saint. I also bought a red gerber for the statue of the Sacred Heart.

I love to color eggs. This year I found a new dye technique. You boil the eggs and dye them while still warm. You wear a plastic glove, put the egg in the gloved hand, drop a few drops of dye on it and rub it until it's colored. It dries as it cools and the swirl and type of dye makes the egg look marbled. Mom put them in this glass bowl which was my grandfathers.

So onto hockey this week with the Nashville Predators in the playoffs. They play at home against the San Jose Sharks tomorrow (Wed) and Friday nights at 7 pm. I think I'll take my camera. Vaidas is going with me so we should get some good shots.

Until the next post, Happy Easter! Christ is Risen!
